AFTER the British media announced that a two-week quarantine could be implemented for the tourists that are returning to the UK from Croatia, the mayor of Dubrovnik Mato Frankovic wrote to the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Thursday and asked him to look at Croatia by its regions and not as a whole.
The Britons have traditionally been the guests of Dubrovnik
In his letter to Johnson, Mayor Mato Frankovic recalled that visitors from Great Britain are traditionally the most numerous guests in his city and that the relationship that has been developed for decades is based on friendship.
“I know that you are well acquainted with this part of Croatia, and that is one of the reasons why I am addressing you personally. The total number of positive COVID-19 cases from the area of the city of Dubrovnik is three, and currently, over 8,000 tourists are resting in our city, and we are making maximum efforts at all levels to maintain a favorable epidemiological picture and provide all our guests with a pleasant and safe stay,” Frankovic wrote in his letter to Jonhson.

Frankovic pointed out that Dubrovnik is one of the safest European destinations for traveling with detailed protocols for every situation and instructions if the number of coronavirus cases starts to increase.
“Taking into account all the above and respecting the fact that Dubrovnik tourism depends on the United Kingdom market, please when making decisions, look at Croatia by its regions, and not just as a whole,” Frankovic concluded.
The letter was also sent to the Croatian Embassy to the UK and the UK Embassy in Croatia.
According to certain media’s posts, Croatia could, besides Belgium and Luxembourg, join Spain, for which a two-week quarantine is requested as of last week.
