The German RTL ranked Croatia as one of the countries where summer holidays will be possible this season, in its article about the Germans' vacation options this year.

"You can probably go on a vacation in these countries this summer," points out RTL and lists Croatia, Greece, the Balearic Islands, and the Canary Islands. There's a big question mark when it comes to Turkey.

RTL travel expert's recommendations

The article points out that it still isn't clear enough whether the Germans can travel outside of the country on vacation and where exactly, but several countries have already profiled themselves into desirable destinations, says the RTL travel expert Ralf Benkö.

According to RTL, Croatia is the first on the list as it "hasn't been affected by the coronavirus as much as some other European countries," and it responded early to the pandemic, so now it can start preparing for the summer season.

Tourism Minister is inviting the Germans

It has been pointed out that Croatia is negotiating with countries such as Austria, Czech Republic, and Slovenia on the transport corridors towards the Adriatic and that the Croatian borders are, de facto, open.

Tourism Minister Gari Cappelli said that Croatia is ready for foreigners and that they "are just waiting for the signal that the German citizens can start traveling."

Greece was also praised for its fight against the pandemic and is now ready for the tourist season. It was pointed out that the Spanish Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands didn't have as many problems with the coronavirus as the coast of Spain and thus remained the desirable destinations.

The Austrian Kurier: The problem is the lack of trust between Croatia and Austria

The Austrian Kurier writes about the lack of trust between Croatia and Austria when it comes to the tourist season. The Croatian Tourism Minister Gari Cappelli stated for the Kurier that the Austrian tourists are welcome in Croatia "without any restrictions." The Kurier says that "the situation in the field is not that relaxed."

The Austrians are concerned that Croatia and, for example, Great Britain could reach an agreement on the arrival of tourists. Given the epidemiological situation in the UK, the Austrian tourists who come into contact with the British tourists may return from Croatia infected with the coronavirus. The Austrian Tourism Minister Elisabeth Köstinger announced that they have yet to talk terms with Cappelli.
